The Mariam Foundation for Cancer launched its “Pink October for Gaza” campaign on Tuesday evening across Palestine by illuminating several landmarks and buildings in pink—including the Foundation’s centers in Ramallah and Nazareth, as well as the Salesian Church in Nazareth.
The event was held under the patronage and attendance of Dr. Laila Ghannam, Governor of Ramallah and Al-Bireh, alongside doctors, volunteers, and the Foundation’s partners. During the event, a Candle of Hope was lit in solidarity with cancer patients across Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip.
The Mariam Foundation emphasized that this year’s Pink October carries a special national and humanitarian message, shedding light on the challenges faced by cancer patients in Gaza. The Foundation reaffirmed its core mission—to stand by patients wherever they are in Palestine and to offer hope despite the difficult circumstances.
In her speech, Dr. Laila Ghannam highlighted the importance of October as the global month for breast cancer awareness, stressing that early detection is the first line of defense in protecting women and saving lives. She noted that these activities represent a message of solidarity and support for cancer patients across Palestine, particularly those in Gaza.
The “Pink October” activities will continue throughout October in various Palestinian cities and communities through awareness, medical, and social initiatives, in collaboration with volunteers and partner organizations. The goal is to promote early detection awareness and provide psychological and moral support to patients and their families.
