The Mariam Foundation for Cancer Care, in partnership with the Ramallah Municipality and with the support of the Jordan Ahli Bank, concluded the “Path to Health” initiative, which aimed to raise health awareness among school students and promote the importance of cancer prevention and early detection through an engaging educational experience combining health education, interactive activities, and teamwork.

The initiative followed a series of awareness sessions delivered by Mariam Foundation physicians in several schools across Ramallah. The sessions focused on general health, cancer prevention, the harmful effects of smoking, and the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles. Students later completed a knowledge assessment, through which 34 top-performing students were selected to participate in the initiative.

Participants represented Faisal Al Husseini Girls Upper Basic School, the National Orthodox School, Ein Misbah Boys Upper Basic School, Rosary Sisters School, and Our Lady of the Annunciation Greek Catholic School. They were divided into four teams and took part in an interactive challenge that began at the Mariam Foundation headquarters and continued through several key landmarks in Ramallah before concluding at the Ramallah Municipality.

Along the route, students completed interactive challenges and answered health-related questions presented by the Foundation’s physicians and volunteers. The activities focused on cancer prevention, early detection, the dangers of smoking, and healthy lifestyle choices. Teams were evaluated based on their health knowledge, teamwork, collaboration, and the timely completion of tasks.

The initiative concluded with a public health day at the Ramallah Municipality, where Mariam Foundation physicians and MedLabs provided health education on various types of cancer, highlighted the importance of regular screenings and early detection, and offered free diabetes screenings along with discounts on selected laboratory tests.

The Mariam Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to the Ramallah Municipality for its valuable partnership and for hosting this initiative, and to Jordan Ahli Bank, the initiative’s main sponsor and strategic partner, for its generous support and commitment to investing in youth health and community awareness. The Foundation also thanks MedLabs for its valuable contribution to the public health day and its role in promoting prevention and early detection within the community.

The event concluded with an award ceremony honoring the winning team and recognizing all participating students with prizes and certificates of appreciation, celebrating the initiative’s success in achieving its goals and reinforcing the importance of community partnerships in building a healthier and more informed generation.
