In a moving atmosphere filled with hope and solidarity, the Church in Jaffa was illuminated in pink as part of the “Pink October” global campaign for breast cancer awareness. The initiative was organized by the Orthodox Charity Association – Jaffa, with the Mariam Foundation for Cancer Support participating as a guest of honor.
The event saw remarkable attendance from the people of Jaffa and various community groups. It opened with a welcoming speech by Mr. Maurice Zakkak, representing the Orthodox Association, followed by an emotional address from Mr. Mohammad Hamed, Director of the Mariam Foundation, who emphasized the importance of awareness and early detection as life-saving tools, highlighting the crucial role of community support for women throughout their treatment journey.
The evening featured a musical performance by artist Mira Azar, adding an atmosphere of hope and optimism. Charity booths were also set up, with all proceeds dedicated to supporting cancer patients through the Mariam Foundation.
The event concluded with the participation of the Jaffa Orthodox Scouts, who accompanied the moment the church was illuminated in pink—an emotional and symbolic scene that reflected community unity and solidarity, carrying a message of hope and life to every woman.
