Bank of Jordan Donates to Mariam Foundation to Purchase Urgent Medications for Cancer Patients in Gaza Strip

he Bank of Jordan in Palestine has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Mariam Foundation for Combating Cancer to provide urgent medications for cancer patients in the Gaza Strip. The memorandum was signed at the Mariam Foundation headquarters in Ramallah, attended by the CEO of Bank of Jordan branches in Palestine, Mr. Saif Issa, and representatives of the Mariam Foundation in Palestine; Board member Dr. Waleed Namour, CEO Mr. Mohammad Hamed, and several administrative staff from both parties, as well as the foundation's ambassadors and local community and media personalities.

Issa explained that this support is part of the multi-relief umbrella program to support the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which was launched by the Bank of Jordan to help citizens amidst the difficult humanitarian conditions they face in the region. This memorandum forms the first axis of the relief work included in the program, aiming to relieve cancer patients, especially children, by providing medications that have been out of stock for months.

Dr. Namour commended the strategic partnership with the Bank of Jordan to secure urgent treatments for cancer patients in the region, emphasizing the importance of these medications in supporting the patients' continued response to treatment and alleviating their pain and suffering.

Mr. Hamed appreciated the generous support provided by the Bank of Jordan, noting that this memorandum carries double importance at a time when patients' suffering has peaked due to prolonged interruptions in their treatment. He confirmed that the Mariam Foundation has dedicated all its efforts to coordinating with partner hospitals and medical entities locally and internationally to secure patients' medication needs. The foundation closely monitors the developments of cancer patients' conditions in the region and works at various levels to support them both morally and materially. This initiative supports the Mariam Foundation's campaign to provide medical support for Gaza's cancer patients.

It is worth mentioning that the Mariam Foundation is considered the official representative of Palestinian cancer patients in all their locations, and has been working for years to combat cancer and assist patients throughout their treatment journey by providing psychological, moral, and material support. Meanwhile, the Bank of Jordan is one of the first financial institutions to be present in Palestine after 1994, contributing exceptional banking services in the Palestinian territories, targeting a wide range of Palestinian sectors and supporting and developing the local economy. The bank has also fulfilled a noble role through its social responsibility by supporting and empowering the community and making effective contributions to various relief, humanitarian, and sustainable development projects.
