Auditory Health During Cancer Treatment

As part of the Continuing Education Committee’s activities within the Mariam Doctors Project, a lecture was held titled “Auditory Health During Cancer Treatment.”

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Nadia Abdelhaq, who holds a PhD in Audiology and Speech from the Center for Developing Communication Skills. She discussed the side effects of chemotherapy on hearing, and the importance of early detection of these effects in accordance with the oncologist’s guidelines, which vary depending on the medication used and the type of cancer.

The session also covered methods of follow-up, early diagnosis, and treatment, as well as the available solutions to support patients in cases where hearing is affected. The goal is to help patients maintain their quality of life and continue their treatment in the best possible way.

Several doctors from the Mariam Doctors Project attended the lecture, actively participating in the discussion and enriching the session with their valuable expertise and questions.

We extend our thanks to Dr. Nadia for her valuable contribution, and to all attendees for their meaningful engagement in this scientific and educational event.

The Continuing Education Committee aims to enhance the scientific and professional level of the medical team by organizing lectures and scientific workshops designed to update medical knowledge, strengthen clinical skills, and support continuous medical education. These efforts contribute to improving the quality of care provided to cancer patients and raising awareness about the latest developments in diagnosis, treatment, and palliative care.
