The Dream Has Come True – Mariam Home, the First Psycho-Therapeutic Healing Center for Cancer Patients in the Middle East, Officially Opens Its Doors

In a distinguished gathering that brought together all segments of the Palestinian community—institutions, religious leaders, hospitals, and the wider public—the Mariam Foundation inaugurated Mariam Home on September 10, 2025, in the town of Tur’an. The home is designed to embrace cancer patients and empower them through art, therapy, and emotional support.

The date of the inauguration coincides with the anniversary of the passing of Mariam Said Hamed, making this day the symbolic birth of a groundbreaking project dedicated to serving cancer patients.

The conference was hosted by our esteemed media ambassador, journalist Wael Awawdeh. The opening ceremony was attended by the head of the Tur’an Local Council, Mr. Mazen ‘Adawi, who expressed his strong support for the Foundation and the project, and his pride in having Tur’an host such a humanitarian home that contributes to Mariam Foundation’s noble mission.

During the event, Mariam’s ambassadors were honored: Ms. Hanan Sabah from the local council, Mrs. Aviva Salameh, Mariam’s ambassador in Tur’an, Ms. Shaden Fares, Director of Mariam Home, and Ms. Sujoud Marai, art therapist. In addition, a tribute was given to the “Heroes of Life”—the first group of patients who participated in the program and shared their moving personal experiences within the Home.

The inauguration of Mariam Home marks the opening of a space filled with love, hope, and psychological support—offering patients an opportunity for expression and creativity away from the pressures of hospitals, and reflecting the Foundation’s mission to promote hope and humanity.

At the close of the ceremony, the Foundation’s ambassadors and invited guests were called upon to cut the ribbon and officially open the Home.
